MTP Coupler

The standard MTP coupler is what you'll find in the back of any MTP cassette. You'll also find them in a 4- or 6-pack MTP adapter panel. It essentially allows you to connect two MTP cable assemblies together (male and female). Standard MTP couplers are usually black whereas secure MTP couplers have several different colors in order to match connectors with couplers. If you want a longer MTP run, also try using a coupler, but you'll need male and female ends to accomplish that.

MTP secure couplers are another technology (see left). They are just like the secure MTRJ couplers in that they're "keyed" with a letter and number (i.e. K1) and a different color. We currently offer 4 different types of secure MTP couplers: Green, Yellow, Red, and Blue. Each coupler can only accept connectors with that same "key" or color. This provides end-users with peace of mind knowing that their fiber infrastructure is safe from intruders trying to steal data through their hardware. Basically, if someone wants to steal your data by unplugging your secure MTP cable and trying to plug in their own, they will not be able to since the couplers are keyed differently from standard. Just another line of defense for your network infrastructure.
